Melbourne My City

I just finished up on a two day shoot with my man Dave Liu (more on that later). I had the pleasure of meeting and working with a bunch of very talented folks, including photographer Woodrow Wilson. Woodrow did stills for the shoot and while we were chatting he mentioned a short he had made about Melbourne using timelapse photography. It's a cool piece of work so I wanted to post it here for you all to enjoy. Here it is, Melbourne My City by Woodrow Wilson:

Woodrow runs his only freelance photography company so check out his website here. He's a real pro so if you're looking for some photography then definitely look him up!

Supermarket Musical Massacre - Trailer

I just cut together a short trailer for our animation, Supermarket Musical Massacre. It's on YouTube now and it looks like balls, so much so I might actually take it down. I actually spent more time trying to get it looking good on YouTube than actually editing it!

I'm going to try and upload a decent quicktime version of this. In the meantime, enjoy this monstrosity!

Edit: Click here to view a medium quality quicktime version (about 7MB).

Guitar Zero

A couple of days ago I acted in a (very) short film by my friend and collaborator David Liu. The film was for Hamish & Andy's Infuriatingly Short Film Festival, a competition for the best eight second film. Hamish & Andy called Dave live on air because they thought his entry was too good technically and they wanted to make sure he actually made it. Unfortunately that entry was disqualified because Dave's film was originally made for his uni course.

So, instead of just giving up Dave set out to make a brand new film for the competition in a single night! You can view the result here:

I believe the winner will be decided today, so good luck Dave! You can check out all the entries on the competition website here. You can view Dave's original entry, "Idle Hands", on there as well!

Dave just cut together a trailer for the short documentary we directed together in March. Check it out:

I'm loving that all the YouTube related videos are about Neon Genesis! You can't tell from the trailer but "Neon Blue" is actually animated and about giant robots!

SMM & The Line go In The Bin

Our films Supermarket Musical Massacre (2008) & The Line (2005) have been invited to screen as part of "In The Bin", an outdoor short film festival based in the gold coast.

In The Bin began in February 2000 as the brainchild of film director and short film enthusiast Jed Cahill. Cahill’s vision was to create an event for Australia’s aspiring film makers to showcase their work and put the Gold Coast on the map for short films. The response to the initial event was so overwhelming that Cahill planned to make it an annual event. The festival has continued to grow. Due to the festival’s exponential growth the decision was made to take it national and visit rural and regional destinations throughout Australia. (from the In The Bin website)

Supermarket Musical Massacre screens this Saturday, the 13th of September, as part of the "In The Bin Part One" programme.

The Line is scheduled to screen next Wednseday, the 17th of September, as part of the "Boardshorts"programme. We are currently waiting on license confirmation for the music so The Line can screen. Keep your fingers crossed for me people!

Check out the full programme here, and for more information check out http://www.inthebin.net.au. Many thanks to Jed & Pia from In The Bin for their interest & support!
